Hello, I'm Jo...

I've always loved to listen. With a natural curiosity and interest in others, it was no surprise I became a journalist (as well as a 'bonkbuster' author, but that's another story - or a website). An inspiring trip Australia in 2016 led me into the world of wellness. Since then I have worked in a variety of roles, from wellbeing coach and midlife purpose finder to advice columnist and loneliness writer.

What I noticed across all areas of my work was an increasing 'listening gap' and that many of us are missing, if not craving, this fundamental piece of human connection. Listening has always been the part I enjoy the most and where I've seen the most impact - so I decided to launch a service exactly for that.

About me

I am a trained active listener and hold a Certificate in Holistic Counselling (AAHH & IICT accredited). Being truly listened to without interruption, judgement or advice (no matter how well meaning) is a true gift and often, all that we need.

Unlike coaching, a listening space has no method or goal to reach. There is no agenda and I'm not here to tell you what to do. I might ask an insightful question if it feels right, or offer reflection. But in a nutshell, you are here to speak and I am here to listen.

While a listening space is cathartic and can be very therapeutic, I am not a trained counsellor or therapist and do not offer these services.

Jo has helped me move forward with a sense of purpose. She listens with warmth and empathy, freeing my thoughts and enabling me to make sense of them.

Gill

Wise, a good listener, honest, great in a crisis and absolutely terrible at remembering birthdays.
